Another course for the country. Reject the Labour Package, exploitation and injustice

Another course for the country. Reject the Labour Package, exploitation and injustice

Life remains difficult for most workers, for the youth and those who have worked all their lives, but the media and political landscape is dominated by the elections for President of the Republic. It is impossible to look at the results of this first round without taking into account the continued promotion of reactionary forces and their demagogic actions, present in the succession of elections and beyond, and embodied this time in the candidacies of André Ventura, Cotrim de Figueiredo, Gouveia e Melo and Marques Mendes.

It is necessary to stop the sub-concession of CP's most profitable lines and the destruction of the company

It is necessary to stop the sub-concession of CP's most profitable lines and the destruction of the company

1. Yesterday, the PSD/CDS Government announced a series of decisions regarding CP, the most serious of which is the intention to sub-concession the most profitable railway lines in Portugal (Sintra/Azambuja, Cascais, Sado and Porto lines). This announcement confirms the Government's intention to privatise national rail transport and destroy CP as a major national company.

End US aggression! Solidarity with Bolivarian Venezuela!

End US aggression! Solidarity with Bolivarian Venezuela!

The PCP condemns the unacceptable aims of the Trump Administration to impose a puppet government in Venezuela, which would guarantee the appropriation by US oil multinationals of resources belonging to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to the Venezuelan people. The PCP denounces and condemns the serious threats made by the US against several Latin American and Caribbean countries, such as Venezuela, Cuba, Colombia and Mexico, and reiterates that these also constitute a threat to all the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the entire world.

On the power outage that hit Portugal

29 April 2025

1. The power outage in Portugal on April 28, due to the disruption, costs and impacts it caused, calls for measures to contribute to the rapid restoration of supply - prioritising essential services to the population, including health services, civil protection, security, transport, education, communications, water supply and social care - and to support and aid the population, as well as a rigorous investigation into the causes of the outage and the identification of options to guarantee Portugal's energy security and sovereignty in the future.

Popular celebration of the 51st.anniversary of the April Revolution

Thousands on the streets to celebrate April Revolution, with courage and determination

25 April 2025

The hope that does not wait

25 April 2025

On this day, when the national celebration for democracy coincides with the national mourning for the death of Pope Francis, we would like to extend, on behalf of the PCP, our sorrow and condolences to all Catholics and their Church, and express our appreciation and deep respect for Pope Francis' actions in favour of dialogue and against intolerance, and his great closeness to the causes of Peace and the defence of the economic and social rights of those excluded from this society subjected to financial interests.

On Lenin's 155th birthday: the importance of his work and the relevance of his thought

22 April 2025

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, the leader of the October Revolution of 1917 and of the first Socialist State, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, was born on April 22, 1870. To mark the 155th anniversary of his birth and to recall his role and that of his Party in the emancipatory struggle of the workers and peoples of the whole world is a duty of remembrance, but it is above all a cause for inspiration and confidence in the present-day struggle for the revolutionary overcoming of Capitalism, against Imperialism and against war, for democracy, social progress, peace and Socialism.

Presentation of the PCP's Electoral Commitment

Our commitment is a patriotic and left-wing policy: courageous to face the big interests and which the workers and the people can trust

14 April 2025

We present ourselves in these legislative elections with the valuable heritage of those who know the problems of the workers, the people and the Country and make them, and the solutions to overcome them, the fundamental content of our political activity on all fronts. We present ourselves as a force of our word, one that speaks the truth and doesn't turn its back to the fight. And that's what we've done from day one with the present PSD/CDS government and its policy of submission to the big interests.

The misgovernance of PSD and CDS

11 April 2025

Dear comrades and friends, PSD/CDS´s governance was marked by a gigantic propaganda operation (which continues even though it is a caretaker government, not shying away from using state resources to benefit the PSD and CDS), with successive announcements to hide the lack of response to the problems of the people and the Country. But the government's actions were not just announcements to deceive the people.

Defend national interests against the imposition of tariffs and the imperialist and reactionary agenda of the US

7 April 2025

1. The Trump administration's decision to impose a formidable increase in customs tariffs is an unprecedented act of economic coercion on the rest of the world.

March «Increase wages and pensions, for a better life»

It is urgent to give more strength to the CDU and pave the way for policies on wages, pensions, the NHS and public services, parents' and children's rights and access to housing

25 March 2025

A great journey, a great march, a great action for the better life that the workers, people and youth have a right to. A welcome to all those who are here and to all those around the Country, Party and JCP militants but also many friends, who have been carrying out the national action “Increase wages and pensions, for a better life”. An initiative that we are continuing here today, a journey of contact, clarification and mobilisation.

On the results of the Elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira

23 March 2025

The regional elections in Madeira held today resulted in a negative outcome for the workers and people of the Region. First and foremost, because the CDU, despite increasing the number of votes and its percentage, did not regain its parliamentary representation by 65 votes, a necessary and irreplaceable element in the Regional Legislative Assembly to make the people's problems and aspirations heard and to act to respond to them.
