PCP presents 15 proposals for fiscal justice and the defence of national interests

PCP presents 15 proposals for fiscal justice and the defence of national interests

The Country has the means and resources that are essential to strengthen public services. Fiscal justice is therefore necessary to reduce taxes on low and middle incomes and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and tax the profits of large economic groups and multinationals. A policy is needed to tackle the scandalous favouritism shown to economic groups. In the scope of the discussion of the State Budget for 2026, the PCP today submitted 15 proposals that demonstrate that fiscal justice and combating tax evasion are possible.

Investigate crimes and responsibilities. Stop the sale of Novo Banco and the losses for the Country

Investigate crimes and responsibilities. Stop the sale of Novo Banco and the losses for the Country

1. Yesterday, searches were carried out by the Judicial Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office involving Novo Banco, KPMG and other entities related to the management of that institution's assets, on the very same day that the Government and the Resolution Fund signed the process for the sale of Novo Banco to the buyer BPCE.

PCP presents initial proposals for the 2026 State Budget

Following the discussion and vote on the 2026 State Budget, that revealed the consequences of the political choices contained therein, which will lead to greater inequality and injustice, with the benefits granted to big capital through IRC corporate income tax cuts, tax benefits, public-private partnerships and large transfers of public resources, which contrast with a policy of low wages and pensions and attacks on public services and on the social functions of the State.

End the criminal US blockade against Cuba

End the criminal US blockade against Cuba

For the 33rd. time, the overwhelming majority of countries present at the United Nations General Assembly took a stand to end the blockade imposed by the US on Cuba. This result, despite the unacceptable falsehoods and pressure exerted by the US on various countries to coerce them into changing their vote, once again constituted an expressive condemnation of the US's actions towards Cuba in the framework of the UN.

March «Increase wages and pensions, for a better life»

It is urgent to give more strength to the CDU and pave the way for policies on wages, pensions, the NHS and public services, parents' and children's rights and access to housing

25 March 2025

A great journey, a great march, a great action for the better life that the workers, people and youth have a right to. A welcome to all those who are here and to all those around the Country, Party and JCP militants but also many friends, who have been carrying out the national action “Increase wages and pensions, for a better life”. An initiative that we are continuing here today, a journey of contact, clarification and mobilisation.

On the results of the Elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira

23 March 2025

The regional elections in Madeira held today resulted in a negative outcome for the workers and people of the Region. First and foremost, because the CDU, despite increasing the number of votes and its percentage, did not regain its parliamentary representation by 65 votes, a necessary and irreplaceable element in the Regional Legislative Assembly to make the people's problems and aspirations heard and to act to respond to them.

Communiqué of the Central Committee of the PCP of March 17, 2025

17 March 2025

The Central Committee of the PCP, meeting on March 17, 2025, analysed the international and national situation and decided on immediate measures of intervention and struggle in the current political framework. I International situation

PCP condemns Israel's bombings of the Gaza Strip in violation of the ceasefire agreement

18 March 2025

The PCP strongly condemns the brutal attack launched this dawn by Israel on the Palestinian population of the Gaza Strip, causing hundreds of deaths and more than a thousand injured, many of them children. This new massacre confirms that Israel has not abandoned its intention to continue the genocide in the Gaza Strip, as confirmed by the decision to prevent humanitarian aid from entering the Palestinian territory, in open violation of the terms of the agreement.

PSD/CDS government wants to hand over the health of 2.5 million people to the business of sickness

14 March 2025

Today’s news confirms the denunciation made by the PCP of the government’s intention to privatise primary healthcare when it announced five public-private partnerships in healthcare. This decision, in addition to other measures included in the so-called Plan of Emergency and Transformation of Healthcare, would mean the privatisation of primary healthcare for at least 2.5 million people, around a quarter of the country's population.

On the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union on the EU trade agreements with the Kingdom of Morocco

MPs from the European Parliament question the European Union on compliance with the Court of Justice's ruling on the EU's Trade Agreements with Morocco

13 March 2025

More than three dozen Members of the European Parliament question the Council and the European Commission on compliance with the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on the European Union's (EU) Trade Agreements with Morocco. The initiative was promoted by João Oliveira, PCP member of the European Parliament.

Capital calls the shots, your government puts it into practice, Chega and IL support and the PS lends you a hand to the end.

11 March 2025

There are no possible explanations you can give for the cases involving you that would justify the unjustifiable and the only thing you should have done was resign. But no, what you are doing is trying to evade the incompatibility between your private interests and the public duties you hold and take the Country to elections to try to shake off your responsibilities. You will not accept your mistake, and, in a headlong rush forward, you are tabling this victimisation motion.

National Women's Demonstration organized by the Democratic Women's Movement (MDM), 2025

The struggle of women, yesterday and today, built a fairer future!

8 March 2025

Thousands of women took to the streets on International Women's Day. In a great show of strength, organized by the Women's Democratic Movement, they demonstrated for rights, equality and an end to violence. PCP joined this struggle, alongside the working women, in defense of a fair and democratic society. Equality is an essential pillar. Women's struggle, yesterday and today, builds a future free from discrimination. There are still obstacles, but the courage and strength demonstrated inspire confidence that a fairer future is possible.

Immediate end to massacres against the people in Syria

10 March 2025

The PCP strongly condemns the massacres and all kinds of crimes perpetrated against the people of Syria by armed terrorist groups, which seized power in the country on December 8. The violent action carried out by these groups, which include thousands of foreign mercenaries, targets ethnic and religious minorities, including the Alawite and Christian populations, as well as the political and social forces that fight for a sovereign, democratic and secular Syrian Arab Republic.

Peace cannot be achieved with more arms, more war

7 March 2025

The Special meeting of the European Council of 6 March confirms the European Union's (EU) warmongering course, committing itself to continuing the war in Ukraine, encouraging the escalation of arms, continuing to hinder peace and collective security in Europe and failing to respond to the pressing problems affecting the workers and people.
