It is a central thesis of our Party, which life confirms: it is the struggle of the working class and the workers that pushes the wheel of history towards progress and emancipation.

Policy of Cadres

Since the XIX Congress particular demands, new tasks and challenges occurred, along with intense activity that would not have been possible without the commitment, effort and dedication of thousands of Party cadres. And we endorsed a set of guidelines for developing, refining, correcting deficiencies, and raising Party policy to a new level.

On the public debt

Imagine an indebted country, under unrelenting pressure, oversight and blackmail from the European institutions; a country with no monetary or exchange rate policies, and with less and less budget policy; a country where a good part of all essential or strategic companies, as well as the financial system, are controlled from abroad. That country may be formally independent, but it has extremely limited sovereignty.

On the demise of Fidel Castro

On the demise of comrade Fidel Castro the Central Committee of the Portuguese Communist Party expresses its deep sorrow and conveys to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and through it to all the communists, the people of Cuba, to comrade Raúl Castro and the rest of Fidel's family, heartfelt condolences and solidarity of the Portuguese communists.

The elections for President, as well as for the Senate and House of Representatives, in the United States of America have displayed the profound problems, contradictions and inequalities which permeate that country's society, and which are expressions of the deepening structural crisis of capitalism that affects in particular the world's biggest imperialist power.

On the Free Trade Agreement between EU and Canada (CETA)

The PCP values the position of the regional government and parliament of Wallonia, Belgium, of rejecting the “Comprehensive and Economic Trade Agreement” (CETA), a position which under the Belgian Constitution prevents its signature by the Belgian federal government, thus blocking the process aimed at the signing of this free trade and services agreement between the European Union and Canada.
