General Strike of June 3, 2026: a great assertion of the strength to defeat the Labour Package and of hope in a Portugal with a future
3 June 2026
Today’s General Strike is a powerful action to defeat the Labour Package [of labour laws] which was presented by the PSD/CDS Government and supported by Chega, IL [parties] and the bosses’ confederations. It is a clear rejection of social regression and of the heightened exploitation that they wish to impose upon the workers.

The PCP rejects and condemns the latest US manoeuvre against Cuba
20 May 2026
The alleged indictment made public today by the US Department of Justice against Army General Raúl Castro Ruz sparks the strongest possible rejection and condemnation.
This is yet another shameful manoeuvre promoted by the Trump Administration, which seeks to provide a pretext for the escalation of US aggression and threats against Cuba, constituting an affront to the principles of the UN Charter and international law.

Cuba will win, thanks to the courage and dignity of the Cuban people and the solidarity of the peoples of the world

Cuba will win, thanks to the courage and dignity of the Cuban people and the solidarity of the peoples of the world
I would like to thank for the honourable invitation extended to the Portuguese Communist Party to participate in this important Conference, under the theme ‘Cuba, the Revolution and the World’, jointly organised by the Portugal-Cuba Friendship Association and other organisations and personalities who support the solidarity movement with Cuba.

Thousands of workers take to the streets against the Labour Package
17 April 2026
A flood of people filled the streets of Lisbon today, from Saldanha to the Assembly of the Republic, in a powerful show of strength by those who work and will not accept setbacks.
Whilst they gather in offices to hammer out the details of further exploitation, the workers, called by the CGTP-IN, take to the streets to say, “enough is enough”. Enough of poverty wages. Enough of job precariousness. Enough of measures such as the “hour bank” that steal time and rights.

On the elections in Hungary
14 April 2026
The result of the Hungarian elections is marked by the defeat of Fidesz – the political force that has ruled the country for the past 16 years – and by the victory of Tisza – the party led by Péter Magyar, who until recently was a member of the party led by Viktor Orbán –, now with only right-wing and far-right forces represented in Parliament, which suggests the continuation of policies contrary to the interests of the workers and the Hungarian people.

PCP condemns Israel’s brutal aggression against Lebanon
10 April 2026
The PCP strongly condemns Israel’s barbaric bombings on Lebanon, which have caused hundreds of deaths and over a thousand injuries. This crime committed by Israel can only be seen as an attempt to undermine the announced ceasefire agreement and the negotiation process aimed at putting an end to the aggression unleashed by the US and Israel against Iran and other countries in the Middle East. Israel´s Zionist regime is thus reacting, once again, by resorting to the most brutal violence against the populations.

The Constitution is not the past, it is the affirmation of rights for the future
27 March 2026
The Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, which Álvaro Cunhal, upon its approval, affirmed to be the “testimony of history,” the “faithful portrait of the Revolution,” was an important victory for our people, for the democratic forces and the military of April, enshrining in fundamental law the achievements and values of the April 25th. Revolution, which are still deeply felt today.

Rally – 105th. Anniversary of the PCP Project. Struggle. Confidence
6 March 2026
Comrades and friends,
We are here to celebrate and mark the 105 years of the life of our Party, the PCP, a creation of the Portuguese workers, always connected to the masses and to life.
105 years of life and determined and confident struggle, rooted in the past, updating itself in the present and projected into the future.
A Party with a long history of intervention and struggle, with a vast and unparalleled history that blends with that of this People and this Country.

On the Party and the strengthening of its organisation and intervention – A stronger PCP. It is necessary! It is possible!

1. We are operating in an international situation in which capitalism reveals its true nature, boosts its violent imperialist action, poses threats and dangers, and this confirms the need for a new path of peace and social progress for Humanity. At the national level, we operate and fight in a context marked by intense class struggle, in an open conflict between those who seek to complete the counter-revolutionary process, in confrontation with the Constitution of the Republic, and the forces that resist it.
