On the results of the second round of the Elections for President of the Republic

The PCP salutes all those who exercised their right to vote today, giving expression to a significant turnout in the elections, and extends a word of solidarity to all those who did so in particularly difficult conditions due to the consequences of the storms.
A significant turnout that defeated André Ventura in the second round of the elections for President of the Republic, reflecting the Portuguese people's rejection of his candidacy and the reactionary and retrograde project he represents.

Another course for the country. Reject the Labour Package, exploitation and injustice
24 January 2026
Life remains difficult for most workers, for the youth and those who have worked all their lives, but the media and political landscape is dominated by the elections for President of the Republic.
It is impossible to look at the results of this first round without taking into account the continued promotion of reactionary forces and their demagogic actions, present in the succession of elections and beyond, and embodied this time in the candidacies of André Ventura, Cotrim de Figueiredo, Gouveia e Melo and Marques Mendes.

It is necessary to stop the sub-concession of CP's most profitable lines and the destruction of the company
23 January 2026
1. Yesterday, the PSD/CDS Government announced a series of decisions regarding CP, the most serious of which is the intention to sub-concession the most profitable railway lines in Portugal (Sintra/Azambuja, Cascais, Sado and Porto lines). This announcement confirms the Government's intention to privatise national rail transport and destroy CP as a major national company.

New Year's Message from Paulo Raimundo
29 December 2025
Confidence and hope. These are the words I address to all of you, to all those who live here, to all those who work here, and to all those who went out all over the world in search of the better life that Portugal denied them. It is true. It is true that the month is too long for the wages to last. It is true that we face the drama of access to housing, access to healthcare, and a shortage of teachers. It is true that there is a lack of nurseries, care homes, low pensions and retirement benefits, and that often only overtime and double jobs make it possible to get by.

General Strike, December 11, 2025: a rejection of the Labour Package and a great assertion of the workers’ strength
11 December 2025
The great and expressive scale of today’s General Strike is an enormous statement of the workers’ strength and unity, and a powerful expression of rejection of a labour package [of laws] at the service of capital, which was put forth by the PSD/CDS Government and which is supported by Chega and Inicativa Liberal [parties].
