«Struggle, path to victory»

What an important journey we are embarking on, and we have more than enough reasons for it to be so. Here is the victory march, here is the celebration of work, of resistance, of struggle. We said: we will not give up, the package is going to fall, and the package fell. A great victory for the workers. The Labour Package has been defeated.

A great victory of the workers in Portugal! The workers’ struggle has defeated the Labour Package in the workplaces, in the streets and in Parliament!

A great victory of the workers in Portugal! The workers’ struggle has defeated the Labour Package in the workplaces, in the streets and in Parliament!

The workers in Portugal have achieved, through their struggle, a great victory in defending their labour and trade union rights, by defeating the Labour Package [of legislation] put forth by the PSD/CDS Government and which was supported by the bosses’ confederations. This is a great victory, which shows the decisive strength of the workers’ organization, struggle and unity.

MPs and political parties will have to decide: Are they on the side of the workers or on the side of the Government’s labour package?

MPs and political parties will have to decide: Are they on the side of the workers or on the side of the Government’s labour package?

Now is the moment of truth, every MP and every party will have to decide whether to vote against or in favour of even greater precariousness, even greater deregulation of working hours and people’s lives, even greater pressure on wages, the liberalisation of dismissals, or unpaid overtime through the “hour bank” scheme.

Demand that the Government provide the necessary responses that are long overdue, and prioritise the needs of the populations

Demand that the Government provide the necessary responses that are long overdue, and prioritise the needs of the populations

Dear comrades, Ladies and gentlemen of the press, Please allow me to begin this speech by thanking all the bodies, organisations and grassroots associations we have been in contact with, who have also helped to shape our Parliamentary Conference, and to offer a special mention to the PCP organisations in the districts of Coimbra and Leiria, and in particular to our comrades in Marinha Grande, who, together with the parliamentary group, ensured and made possible this Conference that is now coming to a close.

Communiqué of the Central Committee of the PCP of December 15, 2025

15 December 2025

The Central Committee of the PCP, meeting on December 15, 2025, analysed recent developments in the national situation and the mass struggle, the elections for President of the Republic, aspects of the international situation, addressed the intervention and strengthening of the PCP, and defined its priorities for action. I  National situation 1. The General Strike of December 11, in the course of the struggle of the workers and the people, has had a profound impact on national life.

General Strike, December 11, 2025: a rejection of the Labour Package and a great assertion of the workers’ strength

11 December 2025

The great and expressive scale of today’s General Strike is an enormous statement of the workers’ strength and unity, and a powerful expression of rejection of a labour package [of laws] at the service of capital, which was put forth by the PSD/CDS Government and which is supported by Chega and Inicativa Liberal [parties].

All for the General Strike - December 11

All on General Strike tomorrow!

10 December 2025

With the legal coverage of the advance notice handed by CGTP-IN, which was supported and reinforced by others, all workers have the possibility and duty of class solidarity to join the general strike tomorrow, December 11. The reasons also affect everyone. We must reject and force the Government to withdraw the labour package, which threatens us all, and demand higher wages, more rights and more and better public services for everyone.

AGAINST THE LABOUR PACKAGE 11 Reasons to go on strike

Raise National Minimum Wage to €1050 already in January!

10 December 2025

When everybody swears eternal love for wage increases, the PCP once again provides the opportunity for the Assembly of the Republic to decide to increase the national minimum wage to €1050 as early as January, thereby stimulating a general increase in wages and the valorisation of the careers and professions of all workers. Those who say ‘wages yes, but not now’ will come up with the old refrain: companies can't cope, we need to create wealth and then distribute it, productivity has to increase, and so on...

Workers are not numbers and they are not parts; they are the ones who produce wealth and should be valued

5 December 2025

Mr. Prime Minister, a preliminary note: MP Mr. Hugo Soares kindly brought up the issues surrounding the labour package but managed to spend eight minutes talking about the labour package without mentioning a single measure contained in it. It should also be noted that CHEGA and Iniciativa Liberal tried to sidestep this issue, but Mr. Prime Minister, I would like to ask three specific questions.

Government diverts public resources to real estate speculation, driving up prices and increasing housing precariousness

4 December 2025

1. The changes in the fiscal field that the PSD/CDS Government intends to promote with the request for legislative authorisation submitted yesterday to the Assembly of the Republic constitute an unacceptable choice in favour of real estate speculation and fiscal injustice. The diversion of public resources to real estate funds, banks and large real estate owners is at the heart of this tax package, which goes even further than what was announced in September. 2.
