On the results of the local government elections of October 12, 2025

On the results of the local government elections of October 12, 2025

In very demanding conditions, the results have confirmed the CDU as an important force in local government. The results show a decrease in the CDU’s electoral expression – whether in terms of its votes and mandates, or in terms of the municipalities where it is the majority force. This result does not reflect the recognized legacy of work and participation of its members elected to local government bodies, and will have a negative influence on the conditions that could ensure an administration corresponding to the interests of the populations.

Continue the Solidarity with the Palestinian People! For a Permanent Ceasefire! For an End to the Genocide! For a Sovereign and Independent Palestine!

Continue the Solidarity with the Palestinian People! For a Permanent Ceasefire! For an End to the Genocide! For a Sovereign and Independent Palestine!

After two years of genocide of the Palestinian people, perpetrated by Israel, the understanding that has now been announced must represent a step towards ensuring a permanent ceasefire, an end to the genocide, full access to humanitarian aid, the full withdrawal of the Israeli military forces from the Gaza Strip and an end to its attacks in the West Bank and in East Jerusalem.

The European Commission deserves to be censured! For its complicity in the genocide in Palestine! For the major economic interests that its policy serves! For the arms race it promotes!

The European Commission deserves to be censured! For its complicity in the genocide in Palestine! For the major economic interests that its policy serves! For the arms race it promotes!

As we pointed out when the motion of censure was voted last July, there is no lack of valid reasons to censure the European Commission – a censure that reality continues to demand.

End the blockade against Cuba

End the blockade against Cuba

João Oliveira, Member of the European Parliament for the PCP, submitted a question for oral answer to the European Commission and the Council of the European Union, stressing the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed unilaterally on Cuba by the United States of America.

Immediate end to massacres against the people in Syria

10 March 2025

The PCP strongly condemns the massacres and all kinds of crimes perpetrated against the people of Syria by armed terrorist groups, which seized power in the country on December 8. The violent action carried out by these groups, which include thousands of foreign mercenaries, targets ethnic and religious minorities, including the Alawite and Christian populations, as well as the political and social forces that fight for a sovereign, democratic and secular Syrian Arab Republic.

Peace cannot be achieved with more arms, more war

7 March 2025

The Special meeting of the European Council of 6 March confirms the European Union's (EU) warmongering course, committing itself to continuing the war in Ukraine, encouraging the escalation of arms, continuing to hinder peace and collective security in Europe and failing to respond to the pressing problems affecting the workers and people.

New Public-Private Partnerships in healthcare, a new boost for the business of disease

7 March 2025

The PSD/CDS government's decision on new Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) is a new and serious step in the strategy to attack and destroy the NHS. An unacceptable decision that undermines the rights of the population in their access to healthcare and threatens the rights and working conditions of professionals. A decision that jeopardises the public interest and creates greater instability in the management of NHS units, in addition to the marked lack of human and financial resources and the wave of resignations and replacements of boards of directors.

Respect for women's rights and equality are a prerequisite for a democratic society

7 March 2025

On the eve of International Women's Day, I would like to address a greeting to women, working women, working class women, intellectuals, all women, mothers, grandmothers, women who struggle every day for a better life and the implementation of their rights. History shows us that women are not passive subjects. They were and are the protagonists of many, many struggles for rights, equality and emancipation.

Rally – 104th. Anniversary of the PCP, Lisbon

It's in the hands of everyone who aspires to an alternative policy to give more strength to the CDU

6 March 2025

Comrades and friends, Greetings to all the participants, members of the Party and JCP and the many friends who are here with us today on the 104th. anniversary of our Party. Special greetings to all the women present, at a time when we are marking International Women's Day, a symbolic moment in the struggle for women's rights, equality and emancipation.

This is not the time for calculations, it is the time to stop the government and its policies

5 March 2025

Mr Chairman, Mr Prime Minister, Members of Parliament, With the authority and coherence of those who, from the outset, did not harbour expectations, denounced and fought the government's actions and refused any complicity with its decisions, including the State Budget, the PCP is here today presenting a motion of censure with the clear aim of defeating the government and its policies.

PCP tables motion of censure against the government and its policies

1 March 2025

Stop the deterioration of the national situation, for an alternative policy of progress and development 1. The announcement that the Prime Minister decided to make today, apart from a singular propaganda stunt, not only does not add anything to dispel or remedy the facts that remain unclear, but it also reaffirms the government's intention to pursue its agenda at the service of big capital, to attack public rights and services, to worsen exploitation and injustice.

This government is not in a position to solve the problems and is today the main factor for discrediting political life, and has to draw consequences

28 February 2025

A year after this government took office, what we are witnessing proves exactly what the PCP said a year ago, that this is a government at the service of the economic groups; a government that encourages promiscuity between the economic groups and the interests of the State; a government that encourages all this promiscuity and promotes a real conflict of interests between the economic groups and the interests of those who can't access the National Health Service, those who have difficulty accessing housing; those who have salaries that are too short for the long month they have to face

Communiqué of the Central Committee of the PCP of February 8 and 9, 2025

9 February 2025

The Central Committee of the PCP, meeting on February 8 and 9, 2025, discussed aspects of the international situation, assessed the national situation, the development of the mass struggle and defined lines of work and guidelines for the intervention and strengthening of the Party. 1. XXII Congress of the PCP – Affirmation, struggle, confidence

On President Trump's serious statements regarding Palestine

5 February 2025

The PCP strongly denounces and condemns the recent serious statements by US President Donald Trump regarding the situation in Palestine and the Middle East, which explicitly proclaim the expulsion of the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip and the occupation of this territory by the US.
