On the Amazon fires
27 September 2019
In the light of the great fires in the Amazon, the PCP expresses its solidarity with the peoples of the affected countries, in particular with the populations living in the Amazon rainforest.
The great fires in the Amazon are a striking example of how the capitalist mode of production only values and favours, both in nature and in society, the aim of profit.

«A vote for CDU counts towards the PS not having free reign to practice old policies»
8 September 2019
It is with immense joy that we salute all the constructors of the «Avante!» Festival, the participants and guests, our friends from the Ecologist Party «The Greens» and the Democratic Intervention, and all the independents that, with us, integrate CDU.
A special salute to the youth and JCP who, both constructing and participating, are proof of the Festival’s future. A Festival that encapsulates the dream we pursue: the project for Portugal for which we fight will, one day, have the beauty of our «Avante!» Festival.

Concerning the recent Trump Administration decisions, on the 74th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
8 August 2019
August 6th and 9th mark the 74th anniversary of the US atomic bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which provoked death, irreparable diseases and the most horrific suffering of hundreds of thousands of human beings. By marking this date, PCP pays tribute to the victims of this monstrous imperialist crime that cannot be forgotten.

On the dangers of the escalation of war in the Middle East
30 July 2019
The PCP alerts the workers and the Portuguese people to the dangerous situation that is being created in the Middle East by the most warmongering and swashbuckling sectors of imperialism, including the threat of a new war that, if not prevented, will have incalculable consequences that would go far beyond the scope of this region.

European Union confirms the neoliberal, militarist and federalist course
3 July 2019
The process that led to the outcome of the European Council meeting on the appointment of leadership positions of the European Union institutions expressed contradictions inseparable from the crisis of this process of capitalist integration.
However, the compromise reached does not break the so-called "Brussels consensus" between the PES and the EPP - which suffered significant setbacks in the European Parliament elections. On the contrary, it translates a reconfiguration of this "consensus", now including with other protagonism the so-called "liberals".

I - No going backwards. It is necessary to move forward

The provisional results of the elections for the European Parliament [in Portugal] confirm the election of two MEPs from the CDU
27 May 2019
CDU maintains an important representation in the European Parliament, electing two MEPs who are a solid, coherent and trustworthy guarantee for the defense of the interests of the workers and the country. These MEPs will be engaged in all the struggles for social justice, progress, sovereignty, cooperation and peace.

On the results for the elections to the European Parliament
26 May 2019
1. The CDU’s result is not only particularly negative for the defense of the interests of the people and the country in the European parliament, as it does not correspond either to the environment of support that was expressed during the campaign, nor to the systematic recognition of the CDU’s work in the European Parliament and the decisive contribution that was made by the PCP [Portuguese Communist Party] and the PEV [Ecologist Party - the Greens] towards the advances in living standards that were achieved during the past three and a half years.

On the about-face of the PSD and the CDS in the consecration of the time of service
5 May 2019
The statements by Rui Rio and Assunção Cristas confirm that the PSD and the CDS were driven not by the aim to respond to the right of counting the time of service of the workers of the special careers of the Public Administration but by mere criteria of calculism.
