«Fight the epidemic outbreak, fight the law of the jungle, defend and protect workers' rights»

The current epidemic outbreak has to be tackled, prevented and fought with determination, mobilizing the means and resources essential to defend health and life. But it cannot be used and instrumentalized, taking advantage of legitimate concerns, to serve as a pretext for the worsening of exploitation and for an attack on workers' rights.

The Covid-19 epidemic – The unavoidable response to the economic and social emergency

1 – The situation that has emerged in Portugal as a result of the Covid – 19 outbreak requires as a first priority the adoption of prevention measures and propping up the National Health System’s ability to address the spread of the epidemic and to provide clinical responses to the crisis.

Defend unwaveringly the interests of the people and the country - Reject the impositions and constraints of the European Union

1. The needs to respond to the epidemic outbreak of COVID-19, namely with regard to the urgent strengthening of the capacity of the National Health Service and measures to defend economic activities, employment and income of workers, their labour rights, demand with more pressing urgency that the country face and resolutely reject the constraints resulting from submission to the impositions of the European Union, which are not only at the root of the problems that the people and the country face, but hinder their resolution.

«You can count on the PCP to resist difficulties and to defend rights»

I would like to share with you this feeling of unease that assails us in the face of the situation we are experiencing.

But also to affirm and share the hope that we will overcome the difficulties and dangers that we face, where words have to give way to action, preventive measures and clinical treatment that safeguard life, health and rights.

They ask us for how long. We are sure of only one thing: we will overcome this difficult moment.

On the measures decided by the Government in the application of the State of Emergency

1- The country’s situation, in view of the developments of the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak, requires continued compliance with the guidelines recommended by Health authorities and which have deserved the widespread and exemplary understanding and acceptance by the Portuguese people, as well as measures to strengthen the response capacity of the National Health Service.

The COVID-19 epidemic outbreak - Short-term and medium-term repercussions, and the responses and policies that must be adopted to address them

1. The COVID-19 epidemic outbreak confronting the country and the world naturally requires, as a priority, an appropriate set of prevention procedures, including health measures that must be strengthened. Public health services play a crucial role, accompanied at the same time by essential measures to enable the clinical response. The National Health Service must be strengthened, at all levels.

About the evolution of COVID-19 and the measures announced by the Government

1. Given the evolution of the COVID-19 outbreak, PCP considers the implementation of a set of preventive measures to be of the utmost importance, bur reaffirms the rejection of alarmism that cause a climate of agitation and disproportionate fear.

The current situation in Portugal demands that we all follow the set of guidelines issued by the public health authority, without fueling speculative reports or adopting measures on the sidelines of those defined by the competent authorities.
