For the 33rd. time, the overwhelming majority of countries present at the United Nations General Assembly took a stand to end the blockade imposed by the US on Cuba. This result, despite the unacceptable falsehoods and pressure exerted by the US on various countries to coerce them into changing their vote, once again constituted an expressive condemnation of the US's actions towards Cuba in the framework of the UN.
The harmful consequences of the cruel, criminal and illegal blockade imposed by the US – which were once again denounced by the Cuban Government's firm stance on truth and initiative – seek to curb Cuba's economic and social development, causing heavy damages and sacrifices for the Cuban people.
The economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US on Cuba is an unacceptable coercive measure adopted unilaterally and with extraterritorial effect, which directly violates Cuba's sovereignty and independence and the rights of the Cuban people.
The inclusion of Cuba on the US's illegitimate and arbitrary list of “State sponsors of terrorism” is a tool used by the US administration to tighten the blockade, with the aim of preventing financial transactions and opportunities for international cooperation.
Appreciating the determination of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Cuban people, who for decades have courageously stood up to imperialist interference and aggression, the PCP demands an end to the blockade imposed by the US, the removal of Cuba from the US's illegitimate and arbitrary list of “State sponsors of terrorism” and an end to all US interference and destabilisation actions against Cuba.
The PCP calls for solidarity with the Cuban people and their socialist Revolution, demanding respect for Cuba's sovereignty and independence and for the right of its people to sovereignly decide their own path, free from external interference.
