PCP has organised the sale of the special issue of Avante! published on 12 January in workplaces and among communities. In an unprecedented initiative, the Party distributed the Political Resolution adopted by PCP's XX Congress together with the sale of «Avante!» copies.

Comrades Subjected to a policy and to options subordinated to the interests of the monopoly capital and the European capitalist integration, Portugal has been dragged, over the last decades, by successive governments of the PS, PSD and CDS, into economic decline, social regression and dependency accompanied, on the political level, by the impoverishment of the democratic regime where the conflict with the Constitution of the Republic is the most visible element.

Comrades, It is almost 15 years since the introduction of Euro bills and coins in our country. The PCP was the only voice that warned and fought the foreseeable impacts of the adhesion to the Single European Currency. The PCP did not follow the siren chants that heralded the end of crises, the shield of speculation with public debt, the convergence with the salary levels of the major powers, the growth and development of the country. Nothing of what was sold to the Portuguese people came to be. Nothing of what was promised to the Portuguese people was accomplished.
