Release from the PCP Press Office

PCP condemns US bombing of Syria

The PCP strongly condemns the bombing of Syria, along the border with Iraq, carried out by the US during the night of February 25 to 26 and which constitutes a new act of aggression that is part of the war policy that the USA promotes for decades in the Middle East.

Furthermore, the PCP reaffirms its denunciation and condemnation of the perpetuation, and even reinforcement, of the illegal presence of US occupation forces in the Northeast and South of Syria, in clear disregard for the will expressed by the legitimate Syrian Government, for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Only a month has passed since the inauguration of the new President of the United States of America, Joseph Biden, however, it is already clear that the US imperialist aggression policy will continue, namely in flagrant disregard by the US Administration and its allies for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.

The PCP demands that the Portuguese government take a clear position of condemning acts of aggression that violate the UN Charter and International Law. The continuous questioning of the principles and norms of international relations, which has become common practice in the action of the US, NATO and the powers of the European Union, must be urgently stopped, otherwise it will lead the world to a situation of enormous gravity, which endangers international peace and security.
