Communiqué of the Central Committee of the PCP of February 18 and 19, 2017

The Central Committee of the PCP met on February 18 and 19, assessing the international situation, the national social and political situation and the development of the mass struggle. In the context of implementing the decisions and guidelines of the 20th Congress, it assessed aspects of the Party's activity, political initiative and strengthening. It debated and defined the goals and the main guidelines for the local elections, confirming the CDU [alliance] and its project of work, honesty and competence.

​No to the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)

​PCP brought a Resolution Project to Parliament for the rejection of the Free Commerce and Services ​agreements, namely the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the European Union and Canada.

Sale of a Special Issue of «Avante!»

PCP has organised the sale of the special issue of Avante! published on 12 January in workplaces and among communities. In an unprecedented initiative, the Party distributed the Political Resolution adopted by PCP's XX Congress together with the sale of «Avante!» copies.

The passing away of Mario Soares and the attempt to rewrite history

Statement by the PCP Central Committee - Meeting of 17th December 2016

The Central Committee, meeting on December 17, 2016, analysed the XX Congress of the Portuguese Communist Party, adopted a resolution on the organisation of leadership work and defined a set of lines of work and tasks resulting from the guidelines adopted in the Congress. The Central Committee examined the latest developments of the international and national political situation.
