"Ils sont Abdullah"

Translated "Avante!" article by Jorge Cadima, Member of the International Department

Profiting from the Paris crimes’ indignation, world political leaders walked arm in arm, to be seen on TV, and far from the crowds. On the first row of the anti-terrorist march, stood a good part of the main responsible for the current state terrorism: the criminal Hollande and Cameron, Sarkozy’s followers and Blair, for the Middle East and Africa’s plunder and destruction wars; along with Netanyahu, the Gaza butcher; and Perochenko, the Donbass butcher. For not totally clear reasons, Obama missed the call.

Two weeks after, a great part of these same leaders went in a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, to present their homage to the deceased king Abdahlla . Great praise was not spared. Obama underlined “our genuine and warm friendship” ( in International New York Times, 2015.01.24). Blair said, as stated by his office, the king was a “modernizer”, “loved by his people and will be deeply missed” (2015.01.23). The International New York Times, refers to him as “ a Saudi reformer” (2015.01.24). David Cameron praised his “dedication to peace” and Cristine Lagarde, the IMF director-general, declared “ he was a great leader, who introduced many internal changes and in a very discreet manner, was a great defender of women”, (in Channel 4 News, 2015.01.23). Rivlin, Israel’s president, said “ his wise policies greatly contributed for our region and the Middle East stability”, (in Times of Israel, 2015.01.15). The truth is that Saudi Arabia is an iron dictatorship, governed by a chaste of multimillionaires, who owe their wealth, power and their own country, to imperialism manoeuvres and always paid back those favours. The kingdom is one of the most active patronisers of terrorist bands, at imperialism’s service, and not but the ones of religious nature. When, in the mid-80’s, the USA Congress forbid the Nicaragua counter-revolution financing, the Saudis handed over the money (in New York Times, 1987.01.13). Parties and trade-unions are not tolerated, and the parliament existence is a make-belief. Freedom of expression is totally non-existent. During the last months of the “reformer” and “ women’s defender” reign, two women were presented to an anti-terrorist court for driving a car (in New York Times, 2014.12.25) and a citizen was condemned to 1000 lashes and 10 years in prison for having created a blog to discuss religious matters (in Human Rights Watch, 2015.01.10). What did not impede Hollande and Fabius to be present in order to pay their respects to the Saudi king and to “ his vision of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East”, (in Libération,2015.01.23) – a vision in partnership with France and most evident in Syria. With no hesitation, Je suis Charlie gave place to Je suis Abdallah. The incredible outrage , but not surprising. Saudi Arabia never was an aim of the great media campaigns and policies against the Islamic fundamentalism. In reality, the true issue is another. Saudi Arabia and its “advanced capitalism” (in International New York Times, 2015.01.24) are on Obama’s, Cameron’s and the Zionism same side of the barricade.

The imperialist leaders no-limits hypocrisy reveals something important: racism and Islamophobic, which more and more is openly promoted by the media – is, as the anti-Semitism in the 30’s – just a leader class weapon in order to divide workers and peoples and use them for their war, exploitation and plunder policies. Abdallah’s tribute shows the “ shock of civilizations” is non-existent whenever it is to settle agreements between the great capital and guarantee the continuity of its enormous profits. Clashes of interests might exist. And if anytime the Saudi leader class ought to decide to take another direction, then, one would certainly hear about the crimes and sins of this dictatorship and of all its imperialist arsenal – from cruise missiles to ranking agencies, drones to pseudo-NGO’s – ought to fall on the peninsula. And “worse”, if the Saudi people stood up in order to wipe out its corrupt and servile leader class, imperialist campaigns on the “ danger of a new dictatorship” ought to be loud. It happened in our country, 40 years ago.
