"The Revolution en garde"

Translated "Avante!" article by Luis Carapinha, Member of the PCP International Department

Ninety days upon Comandante Hugo Chavez death. Not being a secret, neither in our out of Venezuela, the premature disappearance of the Bolivarian Revolution leader is, on its own, an irreparable loss, which, regarding the situation, the emancipating process is before a most complex situation, ever confronted. However, those who might believe the Revolution is defeated or near to capitulate, might be disappointed. The great Venezuelan bourgeoisie alliance, headed and monitored from Washington, strongly supported the destabilizing agenda, but was once again, defeated during the frontal confrontation on the 14th April presidential elections and the subversive operation which unleashed violence on the streets along with the elections’ ignorance and contest campaign. During many months, the reaction forces prepared for this electoral and post-electoral scenery. Shamelessly, the Constitution very same declared enemies and performers of the 2002 failed coup, presented themselves to the first elections upon Chavez, under the protection of a campaign command, so-called “Simon Bolivar”. Candidate Capriles changed himself into a close supporter of all popular causes, even genuine “Chavism”. Along with the political-media inflexible campaign, the economic war was planned and carried out. An electoral and social revolution basis erosion war, causing sabotages against the electric network, scarcity of food and basic consumption products and the attempt to install a chaos climate. Conspiring coup solutions, the opposition does not miss out waving at the reformism withdrawal unto the Bolivarian movement core and the state apparatus.

Venezuela is immersed in a revolutionary process with self -features, many of them unprecedented. Along a sinuous path, starting from a national liberation revolution, which seeks to consolidate along a socialist transition via, with assumed courage towards Chavez, in 2006, and reiterated by Nicolas Maduro, the current president, whilst the country is living the incomplete process changes contradictions, where the new has but begun to sprout and the old still persists. Amid the Bolivarian field, there exists the conscience the dominant production relations carry on being of capitalist nature, inseparable from the financial economic matrix, based on exploitation and oil exports, excessively dependent of imports ( food, consumption commodities and equipments). The right-wing subversive campaign, supported by over seven million votes, has contributed for the economic conjuncture aggravation in which the Venezuela economy productive and structural instability are highlighted, within a context in which the Bolivarian revolution rather increased, not but the GDP, together - and mainly- with the acquisitive capacity and consumption of large strata.

The government’s answer is concentrated in disarming the destabilization and resolve the most difficult problems, the cause of social great concern. At the same time, it presents strategic measures towards the productive capacity development and the workers participation, without which, the revolutionary subject has no existence.

The Venezuela mass determination is outstanding. Chavez , not being present, but initiative remains within the Bolivarian field. The anti-imperialist and revolutionary forces ’unity is of major importance, in a moment the USA, not having recognized Nicolas Maduro, intensify pressures in order to reverse the force correlation throughout Latin America, which has not been favourable towards imperialism.
