Expressing the Party’s international relations extent and diversity, the PCP’s XIX Congress internationalist aspect delivered a very important contribution for its outcome.
The presence of a considerable number of communist parties and of other progressive forces’ delegations, some for the first time, such as the Socialist United Party of Venezuela.
The received party greetings which, although holding tight friendship relations with the PCP, and which were not able to be present, such as the Syrian comrades case.
By their messages’ brotherly nature and the enthusiastic reception they originated, particularly the ones proffered at the Congress Tribune by the Fretilin, the Communist Party of Cuba, the Palestinian Resistance and the Communist Party of Venezuela. These were the 19th Congress’ high moments, during which our guests were able to feel the Portuguese communists solidarity warmth in which, with emotion and sincere acknowledgement, the Portuguese communists confirmed, as within Portugal, the liberation workers’ and peoples’ struggle proceeds all over the world.
As in Timor, Fretilin carries on holding the people of Timor’s interests and national sovereignty banner, the great and heroic resistance unto the Indonesian invader, amid the new independence conditions and confronting imperialism allied forces.
As in socialist Cuba, subjected to the Yankee criminal blockade, proceeds, under the CCP, the building a new society, which has proved to be the best, within the Latin-American continent.
As within Palestine, where the illegally occupied territory by Israel, with the USA’s and European Union great powers support , forces which - as the Palestine Liberation Popular Front, Palestine’s Peoples Party and the Palestine Liberation Democratic Front - heroically offer resistance to the Zionist State terrorism criminal policy, defending the PLO as the unique and legitimate Palestinian people’s representative, persist in a struggle for decades, in order to create an independent and sovereign State within the land of Palestine, the capital being Jerusalem.
As in Venezuela, under president Chavez direction and a outstanding and indispensable Communist Party of Venezuela contribution, the development of an important process of anti-imperialist sovereignty, the Bolivarian revolution.
Amid these four evidences, all the revolutionary and anti-imperialist world were present at the 19th Congress, to address the Portuguese communists they are not alone, their struggle is part of the workers’ and peoples’ liberation universal process, and can count with sincere friends, throughout the five continents.
This live and estimable witness of friendship and solidarity, which delivers more trust and strength to our struggle for a patriotic and left-wing policy, advanced democracy, towards socialism, a prove that the delegates, educated in internationalism principles, were able to repay together with the great number of Portuguese guests.
What occurred regarding reciprocal solidarity during the PCP’s 19th Congress is not of minor nor ordinary importance. It proves how patriotism and internationalism are inseparable. And also proves how diversity of social change paths and immediate tasks that are placed before each party, do not hinder convergence, unity in action, reciprocal solidarity. In times of capital exploitation and aggressive violent offensive, in which the inter-imperialist contradictions sharpening, do not annul its close class articulation against workers and peoples, the more necessary becomes the internationalist solidarity reinforcement, with wide anti-imperialist borders, but containing as essence, class solidarity, proletarian internationalism, friendship and Communist parties’ cooperation.
