I would like to thank and greet you for your solidary presence, and as well fraternally greet all the comrade delegates, and through you the generous collective of the Party, which is made up by several generations of communists who created, rooted and strengthened this great Party, the Portuguese Communist Party.

On the election results
1. The Central Committee of the PCP, in a first appreciation, underlines that the most relevant and decisive aspect of last Sunday’s election results is a great and severe defeat of the PSD-CDS coalition, a clear expression of the wide popular discontent with its governance and a clear condemnation of its policy.

The Central Committee, in its meeting of May, 6th, examined the results of the preparatory debate for the National Conference on “PCP and the Local Government”, which is to meet on May 10 and 11, approved the resolution project to submit to discussion by the National Conference and that includes already the contributions resulting from the discussion in the Party organizations.
