The PCP considers Israel's aggression against Iran to be extremely serious and strongly condemns it, following the various and serious provocations and attacks it has carried out against Iran, the genocide of the Palestinian people and Israel's continuous bombings and occupation of Lebanese and Syrian territory.
Israel's aggression against Iran could not have been carried out without the support of the US and the complicity of the major powers of NATO and the EU, which have promoted decades of violations of international law, interference, destabilisation and war in the Middle East.
The US and Israel, the only country holding nuclear weapons in the Middle East, are primarily and mainly responsible for the serious deterioration of the situation in this region and for the consequences of this new aggression.
It should be remembered that this aggression takes place at a time when indirect negotiations were being held between Iran and the US regarding the agreement on Iran's nuclear programme, an agreement that the US had unacceptably and unilaterally abandoned in 2018 in order to try to impose its conditions of domination on Iran.
The PCP urges the Portuguese government to condemn the escalation of war that Israel, with the connivance of the US, the UK and the EU, is carrying out in the Middle East and to demand an immediate end to it.
The PCP calls for participation in the demonstration that will take place on June 17 at 18.00, from Largo Camões to the Assembly of the Republic, for an end to the genocide of the Palestinian people, for the recognition of the State of Palestine and for Peace in the Middle East.
