The Lisbon NATO Summit’s conclusions, constitute a real declaration of war and interference against all the peoples and nations throughout the World. After Lisbon, NATO was confirmed as a military global offensive alliance, a”nuclear military alliance”(1) determined in rapidly and massively intervene all over the World , at any moment, under any pretext, alleging to hold as property “ the unique strong assemblage of political and military skills, able to deal with all kinds of crisis - before, during and after conflicts”.
NATO, in a global anxious threat states that “ its affected, and might affect, political and security developments beyond its boarders” and therefore it will “ actively engage in improving international security, through partnerships with relevant countries and other international organizations”. A statement, which covered by the Organization’s rethoric reveals two purposes: on one hand, the self-assertion, as a kind of “ emanating centre”, from which irradiate dependence relations that allow the presence , pressure and interference of its forces all over the Globe and, on the other hand, deepen the interference path and the merger between international security and States’ home security, therefore aiming the International Law ‘sdestruction, as a direct outrage towards the United Nations Organization, within the international security issues approach.
Under the command of a power in economic accelerated decline - the USA - not exempt from contradictions in its womb and sunk in the Afghanistan’s military swamp - which is “its life proof” - what NATO accomplished in Lisbon was, above all, a further escape in order to sustain its main objective - extend imperialism domain throughout the globe, through force - NATO no more is confined to the strictly military and geo-strategic speech and advances in the attempt of the whole international situation. For which it determines an endless overall of “threats”, from “terrorism“, the classical current “enemy”, unto issues such as “ weapons and human beings trafficking and the narco - trafficking”; “ computer assaults”; the “ trade, energy and traffic routes” , “ energy sources” and the “communications” security or even the “ constraints within the natural and environmental resources”, namely issues as the “ water shortage” and the “climate changes”. In other words, NATO thoroughly promises to discharge against all that moves, all over.
Therefore it strengthens its European pillar - the European Union - “ a NATO unique and essential partner” and therefore a military-political block; reaffirming the East enlargement strategy; pushing forward the purpose of building a “ genuine strategic partnership between NATO and Russia” and, finally, states “ it ought to “ have the sufficient resources - financial, military and human - to conclude its missions”, or in other words, the military and development expenditure and the death industry modernization.
NATO which leaves Lisbon is therefore, huger, more powerful, more criminal, dangerous and dissimulated. But if the menace is huge the Portuguese people’s answer also was. Over 30 000 walked down the Avenida da Liberdade. Comming from all over the country and several parts of the world, marching with our colours, our determination, pugnacity and serenity, features of those who defend principles and have a wide and responsible perspective of the signifiance of comming out on the streets and struggle against imperialism’s exploitation and oppression.
