“The United States”

Translated “Avante!” article by Pedro Guerreiro, Member of the Secretariat of the CC and Responsible of the International Department

Amid the United States dominant class core differences, cleavages and chocks, that were more and more exposed during the recent elections, which took place in the capitalist world hegemonic current power, do not produce any signals to appease upon Donald Trump’s inauguration, as president of the USA, on the contrary…

Possibly in an unusual way and proving the crisis dimension, the deepening of problems and the complex crossroads with which the USA is confronted – and its relative economic decline , also proved worldwide -, the state of the North-American political system degrading carries on, from where clearly emerges the continuous “fabrication” and the use of mystification and lies that defines it, held in the network of an endless number of media agencies and services, the great media, political responsible and , mainly, the great (and contradictory) economic interests they represent. Before the “unconstrained”, many are those who compare the current manoeuvres and plots amid the United States dominant class –namely those who have the purpose of discredit, delegitimizing, conditioning action and even limit the future president’s mandate – to actions used in destabilization and subversion operations against other sovereign states.

Within this framework, one ought to highlight that an intense campaign with the objective of whitening Obama’s two mandates, is being developed, proceeding the neoliberal and aggressive agenda that seeks to impose the USA’s hegemonic domain.

At the same time, the “Russian threat” campaign is intensified to exhaustion, and among other important aspects, the United States and their allies are the responsible for Libya’s destruction; Syria’s aggression; Yemen’s aggression; Iraq’s fragmentation; the Afghanistan’s continuous war; the coup in Ukraine; the promotion and support to armed groups and their terrorist action; the NATO reinforcement in Eastern Europe, as proved by the recent settlement of important USA military means in Poland; the development of nuclear weapons and the run to armament; the installing of the North-American anti-missile system in Europe and the decision of settling it in Asia; or even, China’s definition as the great strategic adversary and the reinforcement of the USA military presence in the Pacific.

Curiously, Trump begins to be used as a pretext amid the European Union – and before the United Kingdom exit – for new leaps in the European capitalist integration process, with new attacks to national sovereignty and the deepening of its militarization.

Not eluding differences, Donald Trump does not represent a different vision concerning the North-American society fundamental aspects, and considering the assertion and imposition of the United States hegemonic domain. With his inauguration, the successive North-American administrations agenda developments ought to become clearer, including within the frame of agreement-rivalries with other imperialist powers, as well as the so-called “emerging” countries.

The United States situation places, once again in evidence, that the building of a real alternative is within the workers and the North-American people’s hands, rejecting the false and illusive “option” that has been imposed, in confront with the “Wall Street” financial capital and the military-industrial complex that dominate the USA and threats and attacks the world.
