PCP expresses solidarity with the Colombian Communist Party

The PCP addressed a message of solidarity to the Colombian Communist Party following the attack last Friday, October11, on its headquarters, which is also the headquarters of the Patriotic Union.

To the PCP, “this very serious provocative action, of an anti-communist and undemocratic nature, cannot be dissociated from the policies of violence, death threats and killings aimed at social leaders and former guerrilla fighters by the most reactionary circles of the Colombian oligarchy against the forces that in Colombia defend peace, democracy, the rights of the Colombian people”.

Besides representing a new and very serious affront to the spirit of the Peace Agreement, it is particularly significant that this attack was carried out during the campaign for regional elections, refuting the government's assurances of full respect for the exercise of democratic rights, particularly to the forces opposing Iván Duque's neoliberal policies.
In the message, the PCP demands “from the Colombian authorities a full inquiry and punishment of those responsible for this attack” and “reaffirms its solidarity with the communists and all other revolutionaries and democrats in Colombia and their struggle in defence of the legitimate interests and aspirations of the Colombian workers, peasants and people».
