Statement from the PCP Press Office

PCP carries out national contact action «Valuing work and workers. No to exploitation»

Following the decision of the last meeting of its Central Committee, the PCP will promote, in the coming weeks, a day of contact and information with workers under the motto «Not a single right less», included in the campaign «Valuing work and workers . No to exploitation”.

This action, which life fully justifies, aims to denounce the worsening of workers' living and working conditions, expressed in the hundreds of thousands of workers under lay-off, in the tens of thousands of dismissals, in the brutal cut of wages, in the unilateral changes in working schedules, in the imposition of holidays, in the withdrawal of rights.

As the PCP has repeatedly said, under the pretext of the epidemic outbreak, sectors of employers have resorted to a huge operation aimed at cutting workers' wages and other income and their rights, trying to seize the opportunity to immediately worsen the situation of exploitation and transferring the costs of this phase to the workers and Social Security, and in the medium term, to ensure that these rights are lost.

With more than six dozen contact actions scheduled for all districts and autonomous regions, which will take place tomorrow, May 21 (the day when the National Action begins), this day also aims to affirm the set of proposals that the PCP has tabled in the Assembly of the Republic and which, if adopted, would address the essential problems identified, as can be seen in the proposal to forbid dismissals, to pay 100% of wages to all workers or to regulate workers' compensation for health risk, hardship and safety for workers in the private and public sectors.
