"Deadly anniversaries"

Translated "Avante!" article by Jorge Cadima, Member of the PCP International Department

A 100 years upon World War I and almost 75 upon the beginning of World War II, imperialism is launching Humanity towards a new and tremendous conflict of enormous proportions. The Israeli and Ukrainian fascist massacres, both in Gaza and Donbas, have much in common. The Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Libya wars have not come to an end. The military attacks by non-piloted planes (drones) scatter death and destruction throughout those countries, along with Yemen, Pakistan, Somalia and others. Terrorist unknown bands play destruction imperialism’s game in Nigeria, Iraq, Sudan. The planet is being set fire by the imperialist war masters. Who currently and openly threaten Russia, China and any other country that does not follow imperialism orders. A decadent and senile system, but heavily armed, willing to sacrifice the peoples in order to preserve its domain. On what concerns an important part of the world, it is not exaggerated to mention a new World War. And nobody can guarantee one is before a new World War, of huger and more devastating proportions, which threatens Humanity’s own survival.

The more than a thousand dead in Gaza, mostly civilians and many children, are the real mirror of barbaric capitalism of our times. Not surprisingly, the so-called “ humanitarian wars” promoters are silent. Always ready to order and point out the country to bomb or invade, by saying its people is a victim of some suffering ( mostly fictitious and built by the “war party” propaganda), but keep silent before the trapped population amid a huge open air prison, before a daily slaughter, almost all refugees from previous wars and ethnic cleansing, undergone by the Zionist monster. Or instead, they gather round the choir of those who, more than placing victim and aggressor on equal terms, have the audacity of accusing the victim of the aggression.

And within a greater accomplice silence the same happens concerning the slaughter which kills Donbas’s population, in East Ukraine. The villages and towns are daily bombed by Kiev’s troops, with canyons, planes, and even mortar multiple launching systems. The Russian ministry of Defence has publicly accused the coup government of using white phosphorus and fragmentary bombs against civilian targets. Internet has plenty of videos of civilian victims, destroyed houses and even buildings by fascists, belonging to the coup power, supported by the USA and the EU. But TV screens are silent. Just as the judicial process in progress, in order to illegalize the Ukraine Communist Party, is silenced (and which had 13.2% of the votes in the last elections before the coup), the Parliament regiment alteration to dissolve their parliamentary group, the repeated aggressions ( in and outside the hemicycle) against communists and other anti-fascist Ukrainians, UCP local leaders’ death, under torture, at the mercy of the National Guard, in the hands of the Nazi chock troops, that performed the state coup, last February. For the regime media, all this is inexistent. They are indulged in a hysterical falsification campaign with the purpose of opening up the way for a direct confrontation with Russia. Just as if a military confrontation among the planet’s main nuclear powers were a minor issue.

The world capitalism bellicose madness is not new, in 2014. The 1914 and 1939 tragedies ought to be repeated. The capitalism system, moreover during its imperialist phase, is: a system based on exploitation, aggression, oppression and war. Last century history demonstrates it. War ought to be prevented by peoples intervention. That same intervention demands clarification, information, mobilization. Struggle for peace and against imperialism wars was never as outstanding as currently.
